- Listening: This section requires measuring ones ability to engage in; and even propel, converse in daily life as well as follow monologues.
- Reading: As for this section, it estimates the person’s regard of texts, including advertisements, descriptions of jobs, and instructions, in the sense of what message they convey.
- Writing: This section gives some means of evaluating the performance of a letter and the exercise involves writing a short essay/report.
- Speaking: This section consist of speaking on a subject about oneself, the speaker’s opinion, past, present and even future events as well as speaking on issues of current topics or any topic at all in English language.
It may be recalled that the IELTs GT module has a band scale of 1-9 for rating the candidates and that 9 is the highest possible band. The test is to identify to evaluate testee’s writing, reading or speaking skills in English while they are placed in real life situation where English is used.
IELTS General Training is accepted in several countries around the world for immigration, employment or for higher education as evidence of one’s English proficiency.

What is the format of the IELTS General Training test?
The test consists of four sections: Listening, Reading, Writing, and Speaking. The Listening and Speaking sections are the same for both Academic and General Training tests, while the Reading and Writing sections differ.

How is the IELTS General Training test scored?
The IELTS test is scored on a scale from 1 to 9 for each section. Your overall band score is the average of the four individual scores. Most institutions require a minimum overall band score of 6 or 6.5.

How long is the IELTS General Training test?
The total test duration is around 2 hours and 45 minutes. The Listening section takes approximately 30 minutes, the Reading section is 60 minutes, and the Writing section is 60 minutes. The Speaking section may take between 11 and 14 minutes.
